¡Purpose¡ The Taro Okamoto Award for Contemporary Art (TARO Award) aims to support and celebrate those artists who succeed the challenging spirit of Taro Okamoto manifested in the making of creative works with individual expression. We welcome ambitious art pieces from different fields that deliver new and dynamic messages. Participation from around the globe will be wonderful opportunity for the cultivation of new ideas and talents whilst contributing to the growth of new cultures. At the outset of 21st century, a structural revolution is longed for in all fields from society, economics, and politics to culture and the arts. We strongly invite you to participate, and hope to see many self-expressive artworks, which have the power to change fixed techniques, ideas, values and world outlooks. |

¡Qualifications¡
1.@An individual or group who holds a copyright of the works to be applied.
2.@Open to all nationalities, ages and professions (professionals and amateurs). |

¡Regulations¡ |
|
| |
| 1. |
No restriction of technique (i.e. painting, sculpture, etc.). |
| 2. |
Maximum size of the work: 2 dimensions [H5~L5], 3 dimensions [H5~L5~D5]. |
| 3. |
Tools, equipment, machines, etc. must be provided by the artist.
Please indicate the electric power voltage required for use at exhibition. |
| 4. |
Infringement of copyright by a third-person is strictly prohibited. |
| 5. |
Previous prize-winning and commercialized works are not permitted. |
| 6. |
Sales promotion of the works or being a direct or indirect result of commercial activity, are not eligible for entry. |
| 7. |
Submitted work will be disqualified if the title, category, concept and material are changed from the submitted plan after preliminary selection. |

¡How to Apply¡ |

| 1. |
Fill in application form and submit any supplementary statements and or portfolio. |
| 2. |
Materials submitted cannot be returned. |
| 3. |
Costs required for application, including transportation, preliminary screening and arrangements, etc. after passing the first stage, are the responsibility of the artist.
All materials submitted are at your own risk and expense. No entry fee is charged. |

Please send all application forms to the Taro Okamoto Museum of Art. Include a self-addressed envelope and International Reply Coupon for notification of contest result. |
| 5. |
The work may contain only one entry. |
| 6. |
The work cannot be applied for other contests. |
| 7. |
The applications must reach us no later than 15 September, 2010. |

Results will be announced in the media. All works that pass the preliminary selection stage will be exhibited at the Taro Okamoto Museum of Art from 5 February to 3 April, 2011 as The 14th Exhibition of the Taro Okamoto Award for Contemporary Art. |

¡Please Note¡ |

| 1. |
Selected works must be carried in and out of the exhibition venue under the responsibility of the artist. |
| 2. |
Copyright to prize-winning entries belongs to the artist. However, each entrant expressly agrees that the Organizer may photograph, publish, reproduce, print, distribute or edit, in any media, such entries, as well as each prizewinning entrantfs name, image and likeness, for the purpose of promotion and public relations for the contest. |
| 3. |
All works and documents will be received and treated with ultimate care, however, no responsibility is taken for accidental loss, damage from disaster or any other cause while in transmission or holding. |
| 4. |
For the reason of the exhibited sites, there could be some cases where any works can be removed temporary. In the case, works would be kept by the museum. |
